Glastonbury and Street libraries are taking part in a winter coat exchange, offering free coats to anyone who needs one.
Somerset Council’s libraries service is relaunching the scheme for its fourth year to help residents stay warm and manage household budgets during the colder months.
People can take a coat without donating one, or donate a coat without taking one. The scheme accepts adult and children’s coats of any size or style, provided they are clean and in good condition.
Donations should be handed directly to a member of staff at a participating library.
The council says the scheme receives thousands of donations each year. Any excess coats have been passed on to RAFT – Refugee Aid From Taunton.
Shepton Mallet Library is also one of the 16 libraries taking part across Somerset.
Somerset libraries also take part in the Warm Welcome Spaces scheme, offering free places where people can spend time, meet others and access support.
Anyone wanting to donate or collect a coat can visit Glastonbury or Street library. Further information is available through Somerset Libraries or by emailing librariesmail@somerset.gov.uk.
